The department of O&G was started by Dr. Jeyasekharan and assisted by sister Anselina. Complex cases were managed by Dr. Sumithra Raguvaran and Dr. Indira Surendran. In 1987 Dr. Annie Chandra joined and took charge of the O&G OPD. Dr. Meenambika upgraded the department in 1995 and was joined by Dr. Geetha Narayanan in 1998, subsequently by Dr. Maya in 2002. High risk obstetrics and infertility care were further developed by Dr. Geetha and Dr. Maya. A specialized infertility care centre was started recently by Dr. Selva Priya, offering specialized infertility treatment and fetal medicine. This department has been operational since 1967 and has steadily grown with increasing facilities. Since 1975, the total number of deliveries has crossed 42,000!
