Accident and Emergency (A&E)
The hospital has a 24 hour coverage for A&E cases. Emergencies are seen in the OP casualty counter as well as in the casualty area of the MICU, which can be accessed easily from the transport vehicle (for more serious presentations and accident cases). There are several doctors on call everyday (and night) both senior and junior, from the medical and surgical/anaesthesia departments. The RMO’s and Consultants of the OG department handle obstetric emergencies and these cases are seen directly in the maternity area/labour room.
The key feature of Emergency Care at the NDJH is the Trauma Team that includes full time Orthopaedicians, Anaesthesiologists, General Surgeons and Neurosurgeons on call who work together to ensure comprehensive assessment and management of serious cases; accidents in particular. We also have a 24 hour blood bank to compliment our emergency services.
